The Process
How does this work? Like any other type of project, there are steps to follow. Each instance is unique, but it usually goes something like this:
Contact us: Give Carole (573-450-5761) or Mike (573-768-4292) a call. We'll arrange a time to meet with you about your project.
The consultation: We'll ask about the scope of work to be done, when you want to get started, how much you've budgeted, and other questions that apply to your particular project.
One of the first questions we usually get is: How do you charge? It's simple really. We don't charge for this first phone call or meeting. Although a lot of information can be collected to help us start the process, the first meeting is really about whether we are a good fit for you. Usually by the end of that meeting, you'll know whether we're the right firm for you to work with.
The design phase: As we start working on drawings, estimates, or whatever it is that you need, we log our time and bill by the hour. Projects that require our construction services will be given an estimate in the form of a proposal or contract. Once the proposal or contract has been signed, we will only bill for hours of design or construction that were above and beyond the scope of the project. This allows you to stay within budget and makes for a pleasant experience without surprises.
Projects that only require design consultation are billed by the hour with statements mailed monthly. This system works well for most of our clients.
The construction phase: As we progress into the renovation or construction phase, you'll notice that we conduct ourselves in a professional manner. We will keep you informed of progress, the project finish date, or delays with materials. Also, we know that having a construction crew in your home can mess up your routine; so, we try to minimize the stress by leaving your home as clean as we can at the end of each work day.
The completion: During the last phase of the project, we will finish any outstanding items, hand over warranty papers for newly installed products, give you a paint list for touch ups, and do a final cleaning. By this time, we've probably been introduced to your friends and family. Most of our clients are so happy with their new surroundings that they want to share it.
After the completion, if there's anything that doesn't live up to your standards, we welcome your call. We'll come back and do everything we can to make it right.
